About the event

In collaboration with The Kitchen Table, we are delighted to host chefĀ and writer, Sami Tamimi,Ā to celebrate the launch of his newĀ cookĀ book, Boustany.

Boustany translates from Arabic as 'My Garden', and the down-to-earth, relaxed and plentiful recipes are reflective of Sami's signature style and approach to food... With over 100 recipes, Sami offers recipes for breakfast, sharing plates, big celebrations, simple breads, moreish sweet treats, easy dinners and more. It’s an approach that’s strongly present in Palestinian cuisine, from building your mooneh, or pantry, by preserving seasonal vegetables and herbs to lining the dinner table with a variety of salads and condiments reflective of a love for fresh and vibrant food.

During this event you can enjoy an informal talk and Q&A with the author and learn about Ā flavour-packed, colourful dishes centring around vegetables grains,Ā while Sami demonstrates dishes from his book. ThisĀ eventĀ includesĀ aĀ deliciousĀ selectionĀ ofĀ demoĀ samples* madeĀ from Sami's new book, all included in your ticket price!

'Sami grew up in the old city of Jerusalem, before leaving on a journey of self-discovery, first to Tel Aviv and then London. With over 35 years of experience, Sami’s fascination with food, that later turned into an obsession, began at an early age in his mum Na’ama’s kitchen.

In 2002, SamiĀ partneredĀ withĀ YotamĀ Ottolenghi (whom he met and worked with at Baker & Spice), andĀ NoamĀ BarĀ inĀ openingĀ the first Ottolenghi deli inĀ Notting Hill. The company has sinceĀ expanded to more locations in London, including five delis and two restaurants: NOPIĀ andĀ ROVI.Ā

At Ottolenghi, Sami andĀ YotamĀ created a conceptĀ that has provenĀ a huge success fromĀ day one, serving trademarkĀ savoury food, pastry, providing cateringĀ and running two busy restaurants in central London.Ā Over the years,Ā SamiĀ was in charge ofĀ food creativityĀ and nurturing younger chefs around the company.'

Sami will be doing book signings at the event and 'Boustany' will be available to purchase on the day. If you can't wait that long, pop in to The Kitchen Table in Shaftesbury to purchase an advance copy!
